EL ALAMEIN, EGYPT / RankWire.AI / – Al Dahra Agriculture Trading and Egypt’s General Authority for Supply Commodities have put into effect a five-year plan for wheat deliveries valued at up to US$500 million. This agreement marks the transition of a 2023 financing plan into an operational import scheme for Egypt. Under this arrangement, Al Dahra will provide imported wheat to GASC, financed by the Abu Dhabi Exports Office. The pact outlines the procedures for procurement under that ongoing program.
The signing took place at Egypt’s Cabinet of Ministers headquarters in El Alamein on Aug. 26, 2026. Egypt’s Supply and Internal Trade Minister Sherif Farouk, who also leads GASC, was present at the signing. Khadim Abdullah Al Darei, co-founder and managing director of Al Dahra, attended as well. The release did not specify wheat quantities, shipment timelines, origins, or a pricing method for purchases made under this deal.
The financial framework originated in August 2023, when ADEX and Egyptian authorities established a revolving wheat import program. The total allocated amount was US$100 million, with the possibility of annual renewals over five years, reaching a maximum of US$500 million. Egypt’s ministries of international cooperation and finance joined GASC in the initial setup. The 2026 supply agreement now serves as the operational basis for GASC’s wheat acquisitions from Al Dahra within the financing scheme.
2023 financing framework transitions into operational status
ADEX functions as the export-financing branch of the Abu Dhabi Fund for Development. It offers funding connected to purchases from Emirati exporters. In 2023, the office stated that its Egypt facility would support wheat and other vital commodities supplied through Al Dahra. The program established a five-year structure for these transactions with GASC. The latest agreement preserves this framework while defining the operational terms for Al Dahra’s imported wheat deliveries.
Al Dahra has had a presence in Egypt since 2007 and maintains agricultural operations in Toshka and East Oweinat. In 2023, the company reported cultivating approximately 28,000 hectares in the country. It also claimed to have supplied more than 180,000 tons of wheat to the Egyptian government over the past three years. Recently, Al Dahra announced that its broader agricultural platform now operates in over 40 markets worldwide.
Al Dahra’s Egyptian operations began in 2007
While the agreement signed in August 2026 pertains to imported wheat, Al Dahra also produces agricultural commodities within Egypt. In 2023, the company identified itself as Egypt’s largest private-sector producer of wheat and corn. It stated that approximately 85% of its Egyptian farm output was sold locally at that time. The current arrangement involves imported wheat supplied to GASC via the ADEX program, rather than a separate US$500 million financing deal announced independently.
This five-year agreement implements the financing framework initially announced three years earlier. It replaces the need for a second US$500 million facility. The total wheat volume covered by the deal has not been disclosed, nor have shipment schedules, supplier origins, or pricing details been made public. As of Aug. 27, 2026, the arrangement remains a five-year wheat supply program valued at up to US$500 million through ADEX financing.
